Now is certainly an interesting time to be Muslim and American. It is estimated that there are up to 6 million of us in the country, but it still seems that many of our neighbors don't quite understand us. Unfortunately, the misrepresentation of our demographic in the media is largely contributing to this problem. Most mention of Islam on the news is linked with words like terrorism or extremism. It is very unfortunate that this inaccurate portrayal of Muslims is so wide spread, because it is allowing the actions of a small group of people to represent a whole body of others. The biggest tragedy is the misrepresentation of Islam, and confusion about what the religion is all about. In reality, the vast majority of the estimated 1.6 billion Muslims in the world are peaceful, law-abiding citizens of countries across the globe.
- A Socio-Cultural Commentary
I do not claim to be an authority on any religious matters presented in this blog. It is merely a commentary on the experiences of being Muslim in America from the perspective of a Muslim American. - No Judgment
I would like to include all types of Muslims in this discussion. Naturally, many of us have differences in opinion and I ask that we be as accepting as possible. - No Hate
The purpose of this blog is to facilitate dialogue and understanding. Ignorance and hatred are not welcome.
